Ambai's real name is CS Lakshmi.
She was born in a middle class Brahmin family in 1944 in palghat, Madras
which is now in Kerala. She was the third child of her parents. when the
third child to happen to be a daughter the family was very visible upset
because it was an unplanned pregnancy and ambai's birth was an
accident.
Her Father Did Not Like She. But Her Mother Always Support To Her.
Ambai Was Put In Tamil Medium School As Against
The English Medium One To Which Her Elder Siblings Went.
She Was Begin Writing At The Age Of 16 She Had Won
The First Prize In A Competition Organised By The Journal
Kannan.Har Entry “Nandi Malai Charalile” A Novel Was Published
Shortly After She Won The Competition. This Nobel
Appeared Under The Name Ambai.
She secured a UGC fellowship and took admission in JNU for her PhD
and moved to Delhi in 1967
The yellow fish
It is the short story of ambai's writing which shows gender
discrimination in our society.
The narrator divided this story into three section
In the first section we are given a description of the fishing boats
returning a sure are discarded fish struggle to survive reminds the
narrator of a similar struggle she witnessed some time back.
We Take A Leap Into The Recent Past And Are
Transported To The Next Section Of The Story Where
We Get To Know That A Couple Anu And Arun Have
Recently Lost The New Born Child From The Head Cold
Jalaja The Child's Ashes Have Been Immersed In The Sea.
In The Third Section The Narrator Annu
Understandable Depressed Helps A Discarded Yellow
Fish To Survive And Returns It To The Sea There Is No
Obvious Linkage Between The Two Events Except For
The Fact That Both From Part Of The Experiences Of
The First Person Narrator Annu
